Hans & Harry Shakespeare
David Cole's magazine In the Basement is one of the longest running soul magazines in the world.  It is also the best soul magazine in the world, and is published like clockwork every three months out of Brighton, UK.

Before he started his own magazine, David was involved with the legendary soul magazine Voices from the Shadows, where he was responsible for the CD-reviews (starting with Voices issue 17).

The first issue of ITB was published in February 1996. Hans & Harry first started writing for the magazine in February 1999, when David kindly let them do the Vinyl Spotlight . The Vinyl Spotlight focuses on reviews of original vinyl records not available on CD at the time of writing.

After this first effort as " journalists"  the vinyl spotlight section was handed over to H&H another three times over the years. Apart from these pieces, H&H interviewed some major artists for the magazine over the years. In this section of the fingerpoppinsoul site the articles for ITB are reprinted, with kind permission of our boss.  David, thanks!
